Internet Access for Business

Every internet service provider you come across will offer a slightly different variation on the theme below, but in simple non-technical terms, there are just three flavours of internet access for UK businesses;
Sometimes referred to as ADSL2+ and capable of speeds up to 24Mbps downstream and 8Mbps upstream. It is worth remembering that this is the absolute maximum performance you can expect from the service. Many smaller businesses or users with a light to moderate requirement will find 'Broadband' perfectly suitable for their requirements.
High Speed Broadband
BT call their version 'Infinity' TalkTalk Business use 'Superpowered fibre' to describe their offering.
You may also hear it called FTTC or 'fibre to the cabinet.' the simplest explanation we can provide is 'High Speed Broadband' It's (very) approximately 4 times faster than broadband due to the fact that it is carried by fibre to the roadside cabinet. Published speeds of up to 80Mbps downstream and 24Mbps upstream are achievable and it's ideal for home and small office/small business use. This service is not always available from every local exchange.
Both of the above services will require a standard telephone line to deliver the service to your premises.
If you are in any doubt as to which services may be suitable please contact us and we can provide accurate details on services that are available and their anticipated performance.
Direct Internet Access
Using a fibre service all the way to your premises (FTTP or fibre to the premise) this service will deliver very high speed, synchronous data services to your premise.
Being a 'synchronous' service it will provide higher throughput and will be ideal for any business with a high reliance on Internet access. The fibre 'bearer' will usually be able to offer speeds up to 100Mbps. It's offered in 10Mbps service offerings so you could acquire a 10/100 service and upgrade later to a higher speed, say 20/100 or 30/100 at a later date without requiring additional infrastructure costs or delays.
